About the Position

This is a customer service and collections position, dedicated to answering calls and emails from patients related to financial items.  This includes requesting payments on past due balances, obtaining financial assistance, offering payment plans, explaining bills and resolving disputes.  The Patient AR Collector prevents loss of revenue, decreases current AR and increases patient commitment to financial obligations.  At the discretion of the manager, this position may be a work from home role.

Shift Schedule:

  • Mon - Fri: 8am - 5pm
  • Mon - Fri 9am - 6pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer calls from patients and explain their benefits and financial responsibility
  • Collect patient balances by calling patients
  • Make payment arrangements with patients, including financial assistance and payment plans
  • Work returned mail and other patient correspondence
  • Audit patient balances to ensure payments have been applied correctly
  • Review credit balances and process refunds
  • Work with front office, clinical and revenue cycle staff to resolve patient questions

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patient account projects
  • Create spreadsheets

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Effective, concise and compassionate customer service and public relation skills.
  • Strong telephone communication skills, experience deescalating and re-directing conversations.
  • Minimum of 3+ years in customer service, healthcare experience preferred.
  • Be creative, analytical, dependable with ability to work independently.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Strong, professional written and verbal skills.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office

environment. Job requires use of headset.  Manual dexterity needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
