About the Position

Provides quality patient care under the direction of the Radiologist and Director of Imaging. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative in all x-ray procedures as well as assisting with CT and Pet procedure preparation. Assumes responsibility for all designated areas of procedures as required, as well as providing support in any area. Must be able to communicate with patients, radiologists, staff members, and all other internal and external customers.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Performs required quality control tests for X-ray weekly.  

  • Performs annual apron check. Responsible for and performing diagnostic procedures requiring an understanding of anatomic positioning.  

  • Selects correct technical factors on an individual basis and produces quality images.  

  • Limits and refrains from personal conversations which can be overheard by patients.  

  • Limits personal cell phone texting while on the clock. 

  • Performs pre-exam duties which include verifying referring physician's orders/diagnosis, verifying patient identification 

  • Evaluate, process, and submits acquired data.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Full department support.  

  • Assists with the patient flow by bringing a patient from reception to get gowned and initiate prep. 

  • Starts IVs for all procedures requiring an injection of contrast media and/or isotope.  

  • Performs glucose testing for Pet scans'  

  • Assists as required-with getting patients on/off the table, to the restroom or to the dressing area. 

  • Assists with inventory, restocking supplies and linens.  

  • Assists loading contrast injectors requested.  

  • Preps schedule or next day for orders, height, weight, bun, creatinine, insurance, previous outside examinations which must be compared to study performed in our facility. 

  • Competent with VueExplorer, teleradiology processes. OncoEMR processes (using patient time tracker, generate billing summary with correct use of modifiers, schedule and bill Imaging procedures). 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for documentation and recording of any adverse event of incidents and submitting to management. Responsible for safe evacuation of patients and or employees in the event of a fire or fire drill. 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Maintains required certifications and CPR. 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiology technology training in an accredited school.  

  • Technical certification and at least 5 years of clinical experience are required. 

  • Maintains active status of position and license/certification by continuing education requirements as set forth by the corporate policies and procedures
