About the Position

This individual will perform complex research on patient accounts to ensure timely account resolution. Applies pre-established guidelines to perform various billing, insurance claims and account resolution activities. Tasks include but not limited to research of incorrectly paid or unpaid insurance claims, contractual adjustments and review of insurance and patient credit refund requests. However, they will be required to work in different areas as needs dictate. Works under general supervision and may provide task/project leadership to less experienced staff. 

 

Shift Schedule:

  • Mon - Fri: 8am - 5pm
  • Mon - Fri 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Research paid accounts and make sure payment made to contract fee schedule  

  • Completing adjustments required to balance account accordingly.  

  • Monitors claims to research and resolve complex problems/issues.  

  • Maintains confidentiality of all information in accordance with HIPPA  

  • Completes additional projects as assigned by management 

  • Maintains daily/monthly projects on special accounts set in place by management  

  • notifying supervisor as changes occur 

  • Resolves Problem accounts as allocated by management 

  • Will Prepare and attend monthly AR meetings 

  • Communicate with other staff, contracting, payment posters, and physicians as needed 

  • Review correspondence from incoming faxes, mail and emails corresponding to special projects account 

  • Auditing of patient accounts 

  • Assisting Senior Practice Administrator 

  • Training New Pt Collectors and Re-education  

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Include but not limited to mailing paper claims, faxing, copying, scanning, making calls, spreadsheets, verifying benefits and researching incorrect patient account information. Payment plans as needed, Enrollment of patients into Foundations as needed  

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.  

  • Organized, self-sufficient, hardworking, analytical and detailed orientated.  

  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding.  

  • Strong math skills and the ability to reconcile & balance patient accounts vs. EOB's  

  • Skilled at claims follow-up, data entry, 10-Key Calculator and customer service.  

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook.  

  • Oncology experience A+

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
