About the Position
The front office assistant - switchboard is integral in the smooth operation of the practice. They handle high volume of incoming calls, administer directions to clinics, direct calls to appropriate departments, take messages for physicians, hospital consults, confirm patient appointments and exhibit superior patient relations. Note: Switchboard experience is required.
Shift Schedule:
- Mon - Fri: 8am - 5pm

Responsibilities:
- Welcome all patients, answering inquiries and direct them through the registration process.

Utilize a multi-line phone system, fax machine, printer, copier, and scanner to process patients through the registration process.

Answer phones and transfer phone calls to corresponding employees.

Reminder calls for patient appointments.

Maintain a neat and clean work environment and professional appearance and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures.

Assist in the coverage for phones other locations as needed or required.

Other clerical responsibilities as needed.
- Bilingual Spanish - A+ but not mandatory
- Must have 2 years switchboard experience, minimum - must have high volume calls experience; PBX operator experience preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology, oncology preferred
- Computer literate
- High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented with one year of work related experience
- A qualified candidate is a professional, dependable, flexible and self-motivated person.
- Must have knowledge health insurance, including HMOs, PPOs, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.
- Must be able to multi-task, possess good computer skills, have a good attitude, be personable, and flexible.
